Yin Yoga is a slower-paced, more meditative version of yoga123. In Yin yoga, the poses are held for a long period of time (typically three to five minutes or longer) to target the connective tissues (such as the ligaments) rather than focusing on the muscles123. It is a passive yoga practice that involves long holds in various seated and reclined poses to access deeper layers of fascia and to quiet the mind24.
Yin Yoga can stimulate the meridians (energy channels), improve flexibility and joint mobility, calm and balance the mind and body, reduce stress and anxiety, and work deeply on the connective tissues.
Yin Yoga is a form of Yoga that targets the deeper tissues of the body, ligaments, joints and bones, this is unlike more active forms of yoga such as Vinyasa.
Yin Yoga focuses on holding postures for a longer period, usually several minutes (however can be for a period of up to 20 minutes) encouraging stillness and relaxation.
This is a more gentle form of yoga, a slow gentle patient approach to finding more within each posture, encouraging stillness of mind and body alike.
This form of Yoga balances the more energetic by providing a deeper release and stretch, a calmness, helping direct stimulation to deeper connective tissues, inclusive of joints, bones and ligaments alike to allow a deeper stretch and release of body and emotions (sometimes).
My Yin Yoga practise will finish with a short meditation to allow the mind to totally switch off and de-stress before bringing you back into the room feeling alive and de-stressed at the same as calm
